The Riff

Is a VR experience designed to alleviate loneliness by sharing emotions while creating music & observing the mind.

This project was initially created as a submission to the Brains@Play design competition under the VR + Neurotech + Health category and placed third as the most innovative project with further-reaching perspective. We all got a Muse headband out of it.

My contribution was the technical design and possible implementation and the discussion of the technical possibilities which informed said design choices as well as creation of a technical demo.

A little robot character that responds to neurofeedback data processed on the B@P web-based platform.

Further development

Being inspired by the Brains@Play platform that is being created by the organizers of the competition, I got involved in its’ development and provided a web-based Unity integration template that can directly be embedded into the server and have access to the back-end signal processing API layer.

This included developing a custom universal communication and processing protocol between JavaScript and the C# layers.

The platform itself - Brains@Play - the platform democratizing biofeedback data processing for the masses
